Happy Sunday🎯 📌初心の話 📌Talking about shoshin or the beginners mind ｢Photos Koji Okuno @kyudophotograph｣ *写真家 奥野浩次 🏹初段受かったばっかりにとってくだった、初めての弓道関係撮影でした。初めて購入した袴、道着、矢などが懐かしく感じます。 These photos were taken just after I had passed shodan. This was the first kyudo related photo shoot I had ever done😂 I'm wearing the first hakama, dougi, arrows etc I ever bought✨ 🔹初心の話し 🔹Talking about shoshin or the beginners mind or　heart 初心者🔰という日本語は皆様ご存じかと思いますが、｢初心｣はどうでしょうか? Shoshinsha is a word meaning beginner in Japanese. If we take the first two kanji it becomes ｢sho初 shin心｣. 私にとって｢初心｣というのは新しい事受け入れる、素直な心、意気込み、熱心、のりの良さ。経験が重ねていってもその心を持ち続ける。そうすると成長や進歩に繋がるかと思います。 For me this word means having an attitude, a mindset of openness, eagerness, a lack of preconceptions even when gaining experience and becoming advanced, its remembering that openness. This is what helps us to grow and develop. 日常生活も稽古中も初心の心持ちがあると人として成長続けていく。 先輩や先生のアドバイス、自分と違う考え方と向き合う、失敗や｢変化｣推移を受け入れ、進化や進歩に繋がる。 I find that shoshin in the dojo and in my everyday life help me to grow. For me it means taking in others advice and help, and learning from others. Listening to other peoples points of view. Being open to change, and making mistakes. 初心を持つ方は可能性がたくさん✨ In the beginners mind there are many possibilities✨

Happy Sunday!! 🦈鮫小紋って⁉️ 🦈What is a shark skin pattern kimono⁉️ 🔹江戸小紋の話 🔹Talking about Edo Komon 📌今回の写真は週刊誌と食品メーカーのコラボ企画、取材と撮影です。7月発売する予定ですので詳しくは今度アップします！ These are photos from a magazine interview and photoshoot I had last week. The job is a collaboration between a Japanese weekly magazine, and a food manufacturer. The magazine will come out in July so please look forward to it! 別お知らせですが、馬術/馬の雑誌の取材ありました! 詳しい情報分かったらお知らせします！最後に英語メディアのスポーツ流鏑馬記事が完成しました！そちらも後程お知らせします✨ In other news I had a magazine with a horse/equestrian related magazine! More details to come later. Lastly an article I wrote in English on Sports Yabusame was published so I will link that soon. 👘さって江戸小紋の話。この着物はニュージーランドで弓引きに行ったときから大切な思い出たくさんある着物です。 I love this kimono so very much, it has precious memories for me of when I practiced kyudo in NZ. 🔹(8枚目写真)遠目には無地に見えますが、細かい鮫文様が染められることで、無地にはない、しっとりとしたやわらかい独特の美しさを生み出します。 From far away it looks like iromuji, but on closer inspection (photo 8)you can see the most wondeful intricate patterns! 📌鮫小紋は鮫のウロコのようにドットが扇状に広がり連続している柄です。 サメの皮(鱗)はその昔、どの皮よりも厚く硬いと信じられており、厄除けや魔除けの意味が込められていました。 This specific type of Edo komon is called same, with a diagonal fan-shaped pattern it features super-fine, shark's skin-like dots. Sharks skin was said to be stronger than any other type of skin and this pattern was created as a symbol of strength and protection. 紀州の徳川家武士が戦で使った鎧兜が鮫のウロコのように固く、身を護ったとして、鮫のウロコの紋様を身に付けたのが始まりとされているそうです。 Same is a pattern that was once used by the 8th generation shogun of the Tokugawa Yoshimune house of the Kishu Domain. 大名や武士の礼服として江戸時代から流行した染め柄の総称です。 Depending on the source or who you ask, the exact start of Edokomon was late Heian Period. Toward the Edo Period, it began to be used for samurai’s formal kimono called, Kamishimo. Each family has its own design which became symbol of the family. I love my shark kimono😊🦈👘 The last photo is my Manager. His camera was amazing, I will post photos from his camera next time a sample is photo 7. The colour is very amazing🌈

Happy Thursday💙 🐴馬への想い 🐴Talking about horses and what they mean to me えびす君です。山梨の紅葉台牧場の馬で、日本の木曽馬です🐴This is Ebisu, a beautiful boy who lives in Yamanashi. He is a Kisouma a special breed of indigenous Japanese horse. 牧場に到着したすぐに話しに行きましたがえびす君日向ぼっこしてて、食事後でとっても眠くなりました😂隣にたって話しかけると頭まるごと腕に置かれました(笑)持ち上げるよう、両手必要でした😂 He was soooooo sleepy😂 I came to talk to him just after I arrived and he laid his head on my arm then started to fall asleep😂Horse heads are heavy😅 日常では子供3人の母です。朝当たり前なように早起き、弁当作り、朝御飯作り、鞄の準備等々(子供いらっしゃる方はよくご存じと思います😂) During the week I am a mum to 3 kids. I wake up before 5am to make school lunches, pack school bags make breakfast and as parents will know the list is neverending and you are on call 24 hours a day😂 自分に時間というのはほとんど存在しない時期です(笑)が こうやって、馬さんと話し合う、ふれ合う、学ぶ、乗る時間がとても大切で、自分にとって大きな気分転換とストレス発散になる。 Taking time out to snuggle up and communicate to such wonderful sweet horses is one way to really destress and step back from my daily life. Taking time to talk and play not just run and practice is also important too. いつも乗る馬さんの性格やお好み、苦手な行動などを知る事、コミュニケーションはスキンシップをする事が馬と乗り手の間の信頼関係を育つ Getting to know your horses personality and developing a relationship of trust over time is an important foundation for being coming one when when practice. Learing each others quirks and timing really help when riding. 写真5、6枚目がこの間🇧🇷からのお友達: レオさんがスポーツ流鏑馬初体験してきた✨牧場ではお友達と一緒学ぶ仕組みがとても良いともいます✨ Photos 5 & 6 are from the other day when my Kyudo friend Leo san came to try sports yabusame. The horse ranch where I practice is ok for everyone to come and practice and I think thats really nice✨

Happy Saturday💙 四半的弓道: マイ弓矢 Shihanmato kyudo: my own bow and arrow ｢写真10枚目｣先日稽古で頼んだマイ弓矢届きました！キラキラいいね✨マイ弓矢、やはり嬉しいですね☺️ ｢Photo 10｣The other day at practice I received the bow and two arrows that I had ordered! So new and sparkly! Its so nice to have my own bow and arrows☺️ 四半的弓道の発祥地: 宮崎県にある お店から購入しました✨ I ordered from the original shop in the area where shihanmato kyudo originated. 弓矢がカーボンなのねとても軽い✨色はお店に任せしました。弓も矢も濃い赤なような色なってます。矢は一手で引きます、矢の羽違いが引く順番がすぐにわかるようにだとか。会のメンバーが弓矢袋を作ってくださいました！着物の帯にリメーク👘 Everything is carbon so its very very light. They chose the colours for me🎀 so I have a wine red bow with a red grip and similar coloured arrows. We shoot in pairs and its a standard thing to have two different patterened arrows. The bag that carries everything is made from a kimono obi by one of the club members❤ ---------- 四半的弓道の話 Talking about shihanmato kyudo ---------- 📌宮崎県から広まった四半的弓道は一般の人が引く弓として広まった。 📌Shihanmato kyudo started in Miyazaki ken about 400 years ago. This type of archery was for the non-samurai/regular people! 📌八節あります。左利きの弓はあり、畳に座ったまま弓引きますので椅子も車イスも大丈夫。私服で大丈夫。 📌Like kyudo there are hassetsu.But different to kyudo: there are left handed bows, you sit on tatami to shoot and people that prefer chairs or need to use wheelchairs are welcomed. I love that. Also there is no paticular uniform, jeans and a tshirt are fine. 📌的まで8.2m 矢が1.36m 口割り/頬付けがあごの方にあります。ゆがけを使わない、ピンチ式で引きます✨滑らないよう、矢はずに滑り止めついてます(写真7枚目) 📌It's 8.2m to the target and the arrows are 1.36m long! The kuchiwari/hozuke (the anchor point) is around the chin area. We dont use a glove just a pinch draw. There are non slip covers on the ends of the arrows (Photo 8).
