Happy Saturday💙 四半的弓道の話 Talking about shihanmato kyudo 四半的弓道は最近アップしてないこと気づき、今日は次回のお稽古の様子。袴着てるのが午前は弓道お稽古終わったら午後は四半的いくので、着替えないで楽です。本当は私服だけで大丈夫です。 I realised its been a minute since I last posted about my shihan mato journey so here are some photos from my latest practice. I'm wearing hakama and dougi as I had kyudo practice mid morning for 2 hours and went straight to shihanmato practice afterwards. Wearing any clothes you like at practice is one nice thing about this type of archery. 四半的の狙いがよくなり、よく当たるようになりました。よって自信がついてて、口割りや体の調整はすぐに出きるようになった。この弓術は弓道と違いますので良いと思います。でも私の弓道所と似ててローカルの方々が暖かい、心優しい人が多く、楽しい時間過ごしてます。 I'm improving alot and realise practicing this type of archery is giving me confidence in aiming, finding an anchor and getting to know my body. It's very different to kyudo in a good way, but with a relaxed pace in a great local atmosphere which I have at my kyudojo too. 新しく購入したカーボンの弓矢はなれてきました✨四半的弓道の発祥地: 宮崎県にある お店から購入しました✨ I am used to my new bow and  arrows now which I talked about in the last post. I ordered from the original shop in the area where shihanmato kyudo originated. ところでネットオークションで四半的用の矢筒と竹矢3本落札しました！この長さの竹矢はとんでもないです✨先日始めてみました的前で引いてみました。後日写真のせますのでお楽しみにしててください☺️ I got an amazing yazutsu/quiver and 3 bamboo arrows (at this length can you even imagine??) Which I shot for the first time the other day. I will post photos later on. ---------- 四半的弓道の話 Talking about shihanmato kyudo ---------- 📌宮崎県から約400年前広まった弓術。四半的弓道は一般の人が引く弓として広まった。 📌Shihanmato kyudo started in Miyazaki ken about 400 years ago. This type of archery was for the non-samurai/regular people!  📌八節あります。左利きの弓はあり、畳に座ったまま弓引きますので椅子も車イスも大丈夫。私服で大丈夫。 📌Like kyudo there are hassetsu.But different to kyudo: there are left handed bows, you sit on tatami to shoot and people that prefer chairs or need to use wheelchairs are welcomed. I love that. Also there is no paticular uniform, jeans and a tshirt are fine. 📌的まで8.2m 矢長さ1.36m 口割り/頬付けがあごの方にあります。ゆがけを使わない、ピンチ式で弓引きます✨滑らないよう、矢はずに滑り止めついてます。 📌It's 8.2m to the target and the arrows are 1.36m long! The kuchiwari/hozuke (the anchor point) is around the chin area. We dont use a glove just a pinch draw.

💙Happy Monday Everyone セルフケアの話 Talking about self care 🔹How was your weekend? 🔹週末はいかがでしたでしょうか？ 昨日弓道関係メディアの撮影ありました！撮影終わったところからの3枚です。 I had a kyudo video shoot yesterday. These are a couple of photos I got as the sun was setting. 📌家庭やお仕事でいっぱいいっぱいになる時、自分にかける時間、セルフケアの時間が減っていきますね。 📌When we are busy with work or family or life in general, looking after ourselves become low on the list of priorities. 🔹皆さんにとって、セルフケアとは? セルフケアは皆さん何をしていますか？是非コメントお願いします！ 🔹What does selfcare mean for you? Please let me know in the comments😊 🔹私にとってセルフケアが自分の時間を作ることに✨体と心のケア。 🔹Selfcare for me means talking time out for myself in an emotional, spiritual and physical sense. 🔹それが、弓道、スポーツ流鏑馬、四半的弓道と他の武道をお稽古する事。 🔹My selfcare is kyudo, sports yabusame, shihan mato kyudo, and exploring other martial arts. 🔹例えば弓道ですが、確かにテクニーク、タイミング、動きなどを意識していますが、忙しい日常から離れる、落ち着く事ができるのです。 🔹Take kyudo as it is my main martial art. Yes I'm concentrating on technique, timing, moving and many other things when I practice but the main thing is I'm talking time out from my life for this form of selfcare. 🔹私のセルフケアは弓を引くこと。スケジュールによりますが週3~7回お稽古してます。月平均488射してます。 🔹Kyudo is my way to relax and have me time. I practice kyudo anywhere from 3 to 7 days a week depending on my schedule. I shoot on average 488 arrows per month. 🔹一射一射、を大切にします。呼吸、落ち着き、静か。お稽古が終わると心が穏やかになる。 🔹Each arrow I am thinking, breathing, being mindful, calm, happy. I finish my practice tired but refreshed.

🐴Happy Friday everyone! 🔹和種馬: 道産子の話 🔹Talking about indigenous Japanese Dosanko horses 🐴お稽古で仲良くなった 恵斗(けいと)くんです❤ 北海道和種（どさんこ と ハフリンガー種のミックス/ハーフ馬です。 🐴Photos from my last keiko. I made a new friend! This handsome boy is Keito. He is a cross between an indigenous Japanese breed called Dosanko and a European breed called Haflinger. More about Dosanko below👉 ｢I often post about Kiso horses, another indigenous Japanese horse breed. Please check my feed if you are interested to know more about them🐴｣ 📌道産子（どさんこ）は北海道和種、北海道を中心に飼育されている日本在来種の馬です。本州から持ち込まれた南部馬が先祖とされてます。体高は125～135cm、日本在来馬の中では比較的大きい。 📌The Dosanko (道産子), also known as the Hokkaido Horse (北海道馬), is one of Japan's eight indigenous horse breeds. It is the only one of the eight breeds that isn't critically endangered. They are about 125~135cm in height and large compared to other Japanese indigenous horse breeds. 🔹北海道で古くからアイヌの人々は馬を飼育することがなく、鎌倉時代に大和民族が南部馬を本州から持ち込んで使役したのが北海道での馬の飼育の始まりといいます。 🔹江戸時代から北海道の漁場の開発が進み、夏に漁業出稼ぎの際に漁獲物の運搬などで使役するために盛んに馬が持ち込まれた。冬の間は北海道で放置され、翌年に冬を越すことができた馬を捕獲して使役していた。 🔹The Ainu, Hokkaido's indigenous people did not really breed horses and it is said that the beginning of horse breeding in Hokkaido was instead during the Kamakura period when horses were brought from Tohoku in Honshu to Hokkaido. 🔹During the Edo period, Hokkaido's fishing industry grew and Dosanko were used for transporting the catches over summer. The horses were left to fend for themselves over a frozen winter and recaptured the following year for work. The Dosanko was well known as being a horse with a mild-mannered personality but with a unique and strong body that could withstand the bitter cold and scarce diet that winters in Hokkaido brought. 📌ハフリンガー種 イタリア、オーストリア、地方が原産地の馬です。 平均的な体高は約130cmぐらいです。全ての馬が栗毛で、尾とたてがみは淡色なのでとても見栄えのする美しい毛色が特徴です。 体の幅が広く、よく筋肉が発達しており脚も太く、非常に強い背中を持っています。 📌The Haflinger or Avelignese, is a breed of horse from Austria and northern Italy. Haflinger horses are relatively small, are always chestnut with flaxen mane and tail, and are described as well-muscled yet elegant😂 Keito was so friendly and was very interested in the way I smell! ✴Ninja Tuesday! Talking about nindou 忍道の話 🔹先日なんとはじめての忍道レッスンありました！ 🔹The other day I was lucky enough to have my first nindo (the way of the ninja) lesson! 🔹浅草にある忍者インフォメーションセンターにて先生の｢習志野青龍窟｣ (ならしのせいりゅうくつ）先生とお稽古。先生がこのように特技が多いです:忍術・剣術・抜刀術・棒術体術・手裏剣術・身体操作。 🔹I visited the Ninja Council of Japan's: Ninja Information Center. There I got dressed in black dougi and met my sensei:  Narashino Seiryukutsu. He is a specialist in ninjutsu, shurikenjutsu, kenjutsu and many many other martial arts. 🔹伝統を守る、伝える、一般の方に体験できるようインフォメーションセンターが立ち上げた。個人的にその｢皆さんウェルカム｣というところが好き。皆さんのライフスタイルにあわせて、レッスンの長さ選べることができます✨ 🔹The information center was set up as a means to help keep the tradition alive, and as an entrance into nindou for those interested in learning more. Everyone is welcome and lessons are a variety of lengths which is great for busy people too. 🔹沢山色んな事勉強しました。九字切り、忍者道具勉強、忍足、手裏剣術、隠形術、瞑想法、五感向上も稽古✨最後に3級獲得しました💮 🔹I learnt about the nine symbolic cuts (link on my stories), the equipment that a ninja always carries, ninja history and their role, shinobi ashi, jumping, shuriken jutsu (two types), ongyojutsu which is the art of stealth (hiding), meisouhou which is a meditation and mindfulness technique, and lastly gokankojo sharpening the five senses. I got an awesome certificate that said I had completed 3kyu at the end! 🔹忍術、忍法、忍道、忍び、忍者など忍者にまつわる単語詳しく教えてくれました。忍びの者、くの一さんが相手から情報吸収したり、盗んだりしました。スパイの役割でもありました。 🔹We talked about ninjutsu and ninpo which are the strategies for espionage that the ninja used. He or she sometimes had the job of gathering information from other clans and in present day could have also been called a spy. 🔹弓道と忍道の共通点と違いが大変興味深かった。丹田｢たんでん｣へその下にあるコア筋肉の使い方だったり、目、間、呼吸、残身という馴染みのある単語が沢山出てきて嬉しかった😊 🔹From someone that practices kyudo the similarities and differences were just amazing. Tanden: an inner muscle, the use of eyes, timing, breathing, muscle control, timing, zanshin so many words and concepts came up that I am familiar with. 忍道の体験の詳しい情報ですが、近いうちに英語･日本語の記事を書きます！皆さん是非お楽しみにしててください😊 I will be writing an article in English with more detail, so please look forward to it! Happy Saturday everyone💙 📌弓道: 目づかいの話 📌Talking about ｢the gaze｣ mezukai in kyudo 🔹弓道では目づかいが重要です。アーチェリーや武道なさってるみんな様、目づかいは気にしますか？コメントは大歓迎です✨ 🔹Our gaze or mezukai is very important in kyudo. For archers: what kind of gaze do you have? Do you shoot with both eyes open? For martial artists: is your gaze important in your discipline? Tell me in the comments😊 🔹日常稽古では、まばたきを少しおさえたいところで今研究中です。射が全体的にゆっくり、落ち着いてますが、目だけがパチパチしてると、見てる方は射に集中できず、目に行っちゃう事も。射手本人も少し不安定に見えます。 🔹In my kyudo practice I am trying to stop my habit of blinking too much (mabataki). When the rest of your body is slow and calm but you have blinking eyes it is very distracting for people watching you. It also shows you aren't really calm in your thoughts and may come across as flustered. 🔹審査では目づかい評価されます。目線はどこに、どのタイミングで、その長さ、めつきなど見られます。目づかいは呼吸や姿勢に大きな影響があり、繋げて射に影響があります。 🔹At grading our mezukai is assessed. When and where we look, for how long. It is said that our mezukai has an affect on our breathing and our posture which in turn affects the way we shoot. 📌目は常に半眼に開き、鼻頭を通してやわらかで。 📌So our eyes should be hanbiraki or half open, not hard staring, not sleepy looking. The gaze passes over the tip of the nose and down softly to where it needs to be. 🔹立っている時の目線は4m先、 座っているときは2m先。礼、揖、足ふみ、弦調べ、物見等 の動作においては、すれぞれの意義をわきまえ目づかいを正しく 行うべきであると言えます。 🔹When standing, our gaze is 4m ahead, when sitting 2m ahead. When looking at the target (monomi), entering and leaving the shooting area, rei/yu bow and half bow, placing the feet (ashibumi), nocking our arrows etc, each dousa or kata has a mezukai.
