🎍Happy New Year 2022 明けましておめでとうございます 今年もよろしくお願いいたします☺️ 新年ご挨拶 So here we are in 2022 Thank you all so much for your support in 2021. I value everyone's comments and opinions.  Thank you for being supportive and keeping everything positive💜 I hope everyone has an awesome 2022💗 2022年になりました。去年沢山の応援、暖かいコメント、ポジティブの雰囲気本当にありがとうございました😃活動が毎日楽しいです。 Considering the pandemic I had a pretty amazing year career wise last year. But as with most social media behind the scenes everything is not always rainbows and flowers. I'm sure everyone has their own struggles too. Being a mum to 3 children is really challenging but budo has given me some me time in a really peaceful headspace which balances me so much. 去年コロナが長引きした中で色んなお仕事ができて幸せ。ドラマやら雑誌の表紙やら映画声出演など。皆さん同じと思いますがSNSでみる一部の裏では苦労もあり、3児の母でありながら活動続けることが武道のお陰でうまくできてると思います。弓道だって、道場入って別世界、静かに落ち着いた時間過ごせるからこそ日常頑張れる😃 In 2022 my activities and posts will continue to focus on unique and wonderful aspects of Japanese culture that I find interesting and I think are accessible. (And alot of kyudo) I hope that if you ever had the chance to visit Japan or Saitama that you could try some of the martial arts or cultural activities I've talked about. 2022年では去年のまま、日本文化のユニークな、個人的に素敵とおもところ、と、なるべく皆さん野手が届けるものに　紹介続きたいと思います。 Through my job as the Love Saitama Ambassador I hope to bring you traditional aspects of Japanese culture and information on interesting places to see. 埼玉県のラブ埼玉アンバサダー(観光PR大使)では少しずつ観光地も、伝統文化も届けてきたいと思ってます😃 Last year thanks to @budojapan, I was able to try being a ninja and try samurai combat. I've written an article about sports yabusame Its linked in my bio and in my story. 🔹スポーツ流鏑馬とは2002年に始まった協議流鏑馬。伝統馬具、木曽馬(和種馬)、伝統馬術を行かしながら、協議する。英語ですが記事リンクはストリーやプロフにあります。 Next, depending on your Japanese level everyone can try sports yabusame. @saddlebackodawara is in Odawara and accepts beginners. You can shoot and ride on the first day. The other ranch 「kisouma horse ranch doesn't have IG so DM me if you would like info (you need at least conversational Japanese for safety purposes) スポーツ流鏑馬はみんなの流鏑馬 日本語できるみんなは自由に体験できます。日本全国に色んな牧場ありますが私は@saddlebackodawara 小田原と山梨の木曽馬牧場でお稽古してます✨   🔹Arrows 矢 My arrows are jindo ya 神頭矢 and have wooden tips. For sports yabusame I use them for hitting an itamato or a wooden target on horseback.  🔹スポーツ流鏑馬の矢 矢が板的割れるための矢じりが木造の神頭矢とスポーツ流鏑馬大会などで使う征矢です。 Other arrows we use in sports yabusame are called soya 征矢. Kyudo also uses soya but as you can see in photo the nock is very different, the shaft is thicker, and the fletching is much wider with only two feathers. Depending on the horse ranch we use different arrows so I have both. 牧場によって使用するやが違います😃 🔹Kissha gasa 騎射笠  Kasa 笠 is hat in Japanese. Kissha is horseback archery. Happy Thursday! ⚔️埼玉県の刀鍛冶と研師の話 ⚔Taking about Japanese sword artesians: Katanakaji (Sword Smiths) and Togashi (Sword Polishers)  Japanese swords, or nihonto/token have a long and rich traditional history. Before being used in war it is said they were made as offerings to the gods, and buried in tombs of royalty.  Traditional swordsmithing and polishing artesians have passed their techniques down over generations and are the backbone of traditional Japanese sword culture. 先日ラブ埼玉アンバサダーとして埼玉WABISABI大祭典訪れました。@saitama_wabisabi 今回体験した２つの素晴らしいワークショップお見せします！ 埼玉の刀鍛冶による、触れて観る日本刀～刀剣鑑賞 と 埼玉の研師による:研磨体験 The other week I visited the Wabisabi Festival as the PR and Tourism Ambassador for Saitama Prefecture. I got the most amazing opportunity to participate in two workshops. The first, a workshop with the swordsmith themselves called: furetemiru, nihonto. Which means getting to know nihonto(Japanese sword) through seeing and touching. And the second, a special sword polishing workshop! During the first workshop I talked to two artesians and saw one example of each of their work.  刀鍛冶の川﨑晶平さんと下島房宙さんによる日本刀ワークショップは大変興味深い時間でした！ Akihira Kawasaki san, @akihira.kokaji who is a very well known Kumagaya based swordsmith and artesian and Fusahiro Shimojima san a Kodama based swordsmith and artesian 油が水分が刀に触れないよう、手部塗ろをはめ、マスクしてました。持ち方、動かし方、模様よく見える角度など話また。同じ埼玉なのに、それぞれの刀鍛冶職人の仕上げた作品が違ってどちらも美しかった！ First I put on gloves, I already had a mask on. The blade must not get oil, or dirt on it as it will damage the finish. It has a wonderful and delicate beauty. I was shown where to hold the blade in order to pick it up, how to move it gently in order to see the patterns that had been made on the length of the blade. How to use the light to see different patterns and the depth of the blade. The two artisans had very distinct and unique styles and both were amazing. I loved the book King Arthur and dreamed of having my own Excalibur someday⚔️ 日本在住の私は騎士の鎧より、日本の甲冑がアクセスしやすいし、割りと日本式が気に入りです(笑) Being in Japan its alot easier to access Japanese armor. These photos were taken at a place that let you choose the armor you like and includes a dressing service and a full explanation of each part and its purpose. It's great for people who are curious about kacchu but don't want to go as far as buying a set! Super fun and friendly place. 📷甲冑が 濃紺糸威朱桶側二枚胴具足 前立 四ツ又抱角(のうこんいとおどししゅおけがわにまいどうぐそく まえたて よつまただきつの） ⚔️400年前の甲冑のレプリカになります✨ 身につけて頂いた武具は陣太刀（じんたち) ⚠️甲冑の重さは約23キロ This is armour is a replica of a 400 year old kacchu called  ｢Noukonito Odoshi Shuokegawa Nimai Doukusoku Maedate yotsumata takitsuno｣  This name describes the armour type or kacchu and the kabuto (helmet) type and adornings (horns, and maedate). ⚔️My sword is a shintachi. ⚠️This kacchu wasn't as heavy as Oyoroi but it weighed in at about 23 kilos. ズラリと並んだ甲冑と大鎧さん、ゆっくり着てた人物とその歴史について説明してくださったお兄さん😊選んでから、説明しながら丁寧に着付けが始めました✨歴史、伝統、沢山勉強させていただきました！ 甲冑作ってる会社が「丸武」といいます @marutake_industries 大河ドラマで見かける甲冑は子の会社が作ってます☺️ The company that makes this armor is called Marutake. Happy Thursday everyone! 🔹四半的:初のミニ開会 🔹Shihan mato: my first competition Shihan mato kyudo is fun for me for so many reasons. I get meet people from many walks of life from a city next to mine called Asaka Shi. Actually one member who I practice with really sparked my interest to start naginata too. But that's a story for another day! 四半的弓道は色んな理由で楽しいと思います。様々な方と交流をし、日本の伝統を応援してます。 四半的弓道始めての方ですが、宮崎県発祥の伝統弓術で約400年前から始まっております。弓は短く、矢長く、座って引きます😃 In case you haven't read about shihan mato, its a traditional type of archery or kyujutsu from Miyazaki Prefecture that started about 400 years ago. The bows are short (hankyu半弓)the arrows are long(1.36m) and the target is 8m away, we sit to shoot, draw is till our chin and its a pinch draw so no glove like kyudo. この間稽古で、大会やろう✨という話になり、四半的大会のイメージがつかなかった。やったことないところで少し緊張がわいてきました(笑) The other day at practice, a snap competition was announced. For this type of kyujutsu, I didn't know what it would involve and I got quite nervous. 引く順番決めるため、連盟の皆さんの矢を混ぜて、くじ引きみたいに１本ずつ引いてて、大会の順番が決まった。 Members' arrows were mixed then pulled one at a time to decide the shooting order. 大会が始まり、私は後半引く順ですが負担表情が柔らかなおじいちゃん(94歳)がピシッとしてカッコいいよく弓引いてました。まわりの皆さんも大会と言った瞬間、顔つきが変わってしまいました(笑) As I sat watching, usually very calm and quiet people suddenly had their game faces on! It's amazing how people's demeanor changes when you say the word competition! 的がいつもより少し大きくて、青、赤、白で色んな点数がかかれてあった。 The competition target was divided into many different parts all with different points. See photo 2 一人一本で順番まわってきました。座る位置が普段稽古と変わらずでよかった。的ですがど真ん中25ポイントが私は真ん中狙ってそのそばに矢が行きました、1ポイント😂 We rotated and shot one arrow a time sitting directly in front was good as this is the same sitting position to practice. Even though I hit close to the center if you look you can see the middle is 25 pt and I hit just out if it so 1 pt!! Happy Monday everyone! 🔹楊弓の話(ようきゅう) 🔹Talking about the youkyu 初めて楊弓の話をします This is the first time to ever show this type of yumi on my feed.  室内遊戯用の小型弓矢です。Youkyu are a small indoor asymmetric bow made for leisure. 日本では実は 小弓，半弓，四半弓、鯨半弓，李満弓の短い弓存在します。大弓(弓道で使用弓)ほど有名じゃないが、取り上げることによって、日本の伝統弓文化を広めたいと思ってます。 Japan has a wide variety of small sized yumi. They are not widely used, unlike their big brother the daikyu (kyudo yumi) . I hope to raise awareness about the many types of traditional bows in Japan. 弓の師匠が初めてもらいました。竹で先生の自作したものも頂いて、大切に保管してます。 My kyudo sensei first introduced me to youkyu, he made me one from bamboo and it is one of my precious treasures (photos in my story highlights: youkyu) 東北住まいの日置流伊達印西派の師匠、黒須先生を会いに行った時は初めて伝統の楊弓(江戸時代のアンティーク)を手にとってミニ試合やってみました！ When I visited traditional practitioner Kurosu Sensei from Heki ryu Date Insai ha down in Sendai he had two antique youkyu bows, sets of arrows, a target set up, everything! So for the first time I tried yokyu on an Edo period bow. 組立式で、弓の長さは2尺8寸（約85cm）矢の長さは7寸から9寸2分(27cm) とされる。ご覧の通り弓自体がとっても細くて、弦張るにはハラハラです。 The yokyu is a small (85cm), asymmetric, assembly type bow. The body has 4 parts, the lower limb, hand grip and 2 upper limbs. Arrows are about 27cm long. As you can see the bow is very thin which made stringing the bow very nerve wracking! Interestingly the yokyu are of wood (Yang Willow) hence its name.  的までの距離は7間半(6.3m。楊弓の主な遊び方は、室内に小型の的を設置し離れた場所から座ったままピンチ式射て、当たりの数を競うというもの。 The target is set 6.3m away and the aim is to hit the tiny target! It is tricky! The techniques they would use, and how combat in armor would actually work? I have😄 皆さん、考えたことありますか? 武士同士のコンバット、バトル。実際甲冑着て戦うとなるとどうなりますか? I've ridden a horse and used a bow and arrow in armor but had never had the chance to actually try to fight in it….until now 私は甲冑着て、弓引いて、馬乗って、戦うという機械がなかなか.... 🔹先日「キャッスル·ティンタジェル」という道場とスーパーリング施設訪れました。ティンタジェルでは騎士道も武士道の勉強、古武術と伝統武器術の修行ができます。 The other day I visited a dojo and sparring facility called Castle Tintagel. Here you can learn both European or Japanese medieval martial arts. 甲冑や兜が叩いても大きく曲がらないようバトルのため特別製作した物で、家にある物と違います。手先、喉、股、肘、膝は追加でバトル用アーマー着けた。My armor and kabuto were strengthened steel and were not the same as the kacchu I have at home. Getting hit will bend the armor and it needs to be as strong as possible = very heavy. Hands, throat, groin, elbows knees all got extra steel armored battle armor. 兜含めて30~35kg(体重75％ほど)ありました。兜の方も得策でめんぽくっついてる作りで、ベースが剣道面なような物でした。 The armor was about 30kg plus a 5~6kg kabuto with menpo welded on. Also specially designed for armored battle. Totalling about 75% of my body weight. The helmet or kabuto was specially designed over what looked to be a kendo men with the menpo (face armor) welded on. 移動しながら、腕あげて相手叩くのが精いっぱいでした(笑)もっと強く!という声があがってたが、体力が足りず思った以上難しかった。Lifting my arms to strike with my nodachi was so tiring. Senseis were saying, hit harder! But it was very difficult! 最後に薙刀で西洋甲冑着てた同じ女性の方とスーパーリング！最後に彼女の勝ちでした(笑) Lastly I got to spar using a naginata with another beginner.
